The family moved to Boulder Colorado where Bob went to school at Casey Jr. High, he later met the love of his life, Virgina Sewell. They were married in 1955 in Raton New Mexico. They moved to Erie in 1963 where they stayed, raising their family. Bob leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Virgina, their four children; Sandy & Bill Sorber, Larry and Lottie Stephenson, Lynn and Glenda Stephenson, Lonnie and Lori Stephenson. His eight grandchildren; Robert and Leah Sorber, Nicole Hammond Jason and Brooke Stephenson, Elijah Stephenson, Joshua Stephenson, Jessica and Danny Vlosich, Greg and Urie Atkinson, Bryan Atkinson; his sister Pat England, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

He was a barber, Heavy Equipment operator, mechanic, with multiple other talents. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Longmont. He loved the Lord and taught his children and grandchildren about God’s love through bible stories and by his loving example. He loved car racing and spent many hours at Bandimere Speedway with his sons grandsons and friends. He loved horses, fishing and camping in the mountains, He was always there for family and friends when needed. Bob was a devout husband, father and grandfather that could fix anything but the crack of dawn and a broken heart. He could, however, make a broken heart feel better with his comforting ways, he was the perfect balance of father and friend to his children and any child who walked through his door. My father wrote a poem for my mother before he passed, and we would like to share it with you all.

I love you and I will hold you and waltz you around the room and whisper the things you like to hear. The kids are gone, the house is small, and we are all alone tonight. We will pretend we are waltzing in the bright ballroom where the rich and famous waltz with the bright chandeliers I will hold you and whisper the things you like to hear till the sun comes up.

-Robert Stephenson
