<p>Douglas "Doug" Collins, age 54, of Laurel, Delaware, passed away on April 15th, 2024 in the comfort of his own home.&nbsp;Doug was born in Salisbury, Maryland on February 20th, 1970, to Kenneth Collins and Nancy Windsor Callahan. He was a graduate of Laurel High School in the "Class of 1988". Doug was a talented welder and fabricator for 30 years with SMW in Laurel. Additionally, he spent many late nights welding in his shop supporting local farmers. He also enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling, mudding, and simply being at home. Doug was always very easy going and loved by many. He is survived by his father, Kenneth Collins; his mother, Nancy Callahan and his stepfather, Bill Callahan; sisters, Terri Collins and Corey Hudson-Anderson; aunts and uncles; Dennis and Polly Collins, Robert and Fay Downes, Rudy Collins and Becky White; nieces and nephews also survive him. Doug is preceded in death by his step-mother, Linda Collins and his best friend Mark Bunner. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street Laurel, Delaware 19956. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Reverend Tim Dukes will officiate. Interment will be held in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Vitas Hospice caregivers for the loving care they provided Doug during his illness.
