It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marianne Pollard Santo. Marianne leaves behind her beloved husband, Carmine, 2 loving sisters, Lisa Walsak and Eileen Kennedy, Eileen’s husband Richard, and adored nieces and nephews : Tara, the late Amanda, Emily, Jacob, Adam and Abby. And it is important to mention her other sisters in Marie Moss, Kelly Davis and Tina Santo. Marianne had a beautiful smile, a brilliant mind, sparkling quick wit, was an ardent reader, a fabulous cook, and may have been U2’s biggest fan. Her main passion was her family and friends. She adored her husband and family to the extreme. Coming in at a close second was her passion for the Produce industry to which she gave almost 40 years. She was a friend and mentor to many in the Food Industry and had a heart bigger than her personality. Marianne paved the path for many women in the industry initially by becoming one of the first female Category Managers at Wakefern and then attaining the prestige of becoming the first woman President in the history of the Eastern Produce Council. Marianne has been lauded and praised with many awards during her professional career with her most recent award in 2021 when she was honored as one of the “Women of Influence In the Food Industry.” Marianne had a philanthropic soul and was fervently devoted to causes such as Dress for Success, the Food Bank, and God’s Love We Deliver. Her life’s mission was to help others and provide for those in need. She was loved and admired by so many both nationally and internationally and her loss will be profoundly felt for decades to come.
