<p><p>Gracie H. Harrington, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Liberty Commons Health & Rehabilitation.</p> <p>Gracie was born on April 5, 1931, in Anson County to the late Amos and Sallie Harward. She was married to G.V. (June) Harrington, Jr. for 57 years prior to his death in 2007.</p> <p>Gracie worked for Lee County Schools, first as a TA then as school secretary for 22 years. Her years of service included Sanford Central High School, St. Clair Elementary, Jonesboro Elementary and East Lee Junior High. She attended Emmanuel UCC where she served on several committees and was a Sunday School teacher. She later moved her membership to First Presbyterian where she enjoyed being a member of her circle and serving Meals on Wheels until her health began to fail.</p> <p>After retirement, she enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and she always enjoyed talking on the phone. She was well known to bring chicken and dumplings to the family Christmas dinner and homemade chili for the annual Harward 4th of July Celebration. She could be counted on to bring plenty of food to whatever event she was attending, and she never met a stranger.</p> <p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Calvin Harward and Daniel Harward; sisters, Martha H. Harrington and Alice H. Rosser.</p> <p>She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Bradley and husband, Jerry of Sanford; grandchildren, Mindy Isenhour, Brandon Isenhour of Sanford and Katie and Daniel Machon of Newland, NC; great-grandson, Cason Isenhour; sisters, Laura Kelly and Ruby Hendrick and a host of nieces and nephews.</p> <p>The family would like to give special recognition to Brenda Womack, caregiver and friend, and the staff of Liberty Commons.</p> <p>A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Broadway Town Cemetery with Pastor Michael Hall officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the home of Debbie and Jerry Bradley.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the charity of one’s choice.
