<p><p>Herbert W. Stunkel, 86, of Haubtadt, IN, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN, on Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was born to the late Wilbur and Nelda (McCutchan) Stunkel on December 29, 1935, in Gibson County.</p> <p>He graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1953 and served 8 years in the United States National Guard. He worked at Old National Bank as a purchasing agent and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of St. Stephens Church in Warrenton, IN, Masonic Lodge 696, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #427.</p> <p>Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Stunkel and his sister, Norma Jean Menke.</p> <p>He is survived by his sons, Steven (Pat) Stunkel of Evansville, IN and Randy (Cindy) Stunkel of Poseyville,IN; grandchildren, Amber (Joseph) Scheller, Clara (Eric) Rexing, and Jared (Allison) Stunkel; great grandchildren, Taylor and Cameron Scheller, Riley Jo, Brooklynn, Kennedy, and Nora Rexing, Owen and Jenson Stunkel; sister, Georgene Dierlam of Michigan and brother; Lyndell Gears of Evansville, IN.</p> <p>There will be no public services per his request. Herb is to be cremated and have a private burial at St. Stephens Cemetery in Warrenton, IN.
