De Soto - Bobby Joe Tegethoff, 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale surrounded by his loving family.<br/><br/>Bobby was born on September 26, 1930 in Fulton, Kentucky to Raymond and Mattie (Williams) Tegethoff. Bobby married Betty Jo Humphrey on April 5, 1953. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2021.<br/><br/>Bobby is survived by his sons, David and wife Elizabeth Tegethoff and Douglas and wife Debbie Tegethoff of De Soto; daughter, Anita and husband Dennis Shirley of De Soto; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.<br/><br/>He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty.<br/><br/>Bobby served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart in addition to several campaign ribbons. He was a member of De Soto United Methodist Church; and Rivers of Living Water Fellowship Church in De Soto. Bobby and Betty loved to travel, often to Baton Rouge, LA, to attend Jimmy Swaggart camp meetings. Bobby worked for Illinois Central Railroad for many years and then the Carbondale Post Office until his retirement. After he retired he volunteered at the TCT Broadcasting as a cameraman. He loved to spend time bowling during the winter and playing golf during the summer. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family. <br/><br/>Funeral services will be 2:00pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Susan Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Carbondale with military rites. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2:00pm on Friday at the funeral home.<br/><br/>Memorials may be made to Rivers of Living Water Fellowship Church in De Soto and will be accepted at the funeral home.<br/><br/>Meredith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
