Melvin Nelson, 87, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021. He was born July 4, 1934 in Dillsboro, Indiana, son of the late Fred and Lula Mae (Holdcraft) Nelson. Melvin was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, Lawrenceburg American Legion, Scottish Rite and Shrine Club. He liked to rebuild antique garden tractors and ride motorcycles. He was a carpenter who built houses and enjoyed the beach. He worked in maintenance at Anchor Glass. He is survived by his loving wife, Shelba Nelson of Lawrenceburg, IN; son, Kenneth (Patrice) Nelson of Lawrenceburg, IN; daughter, Carolyn Oakley of Lawrenceburg, IN; granddaughter, LaDonna (Casey) Kaiser; 3 great grandchildren, Sebastian Nelson, Sabrina Nelson, Kelly Kaiser. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lula Mae Nelson; grandson, Edward Nelson; and his son-in-law, Robert Oakely. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11 am, with Pastor Murray Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.July 4, 1934 - November 8, 202107/04/193411/08/2021
