Douglas WHYTE

Doug Whyte (1947-2021) Douglas James Whyte, 74, of Waterloo, Ontario, passed away peacefully at home on September 27th in the presence of his loving wife and family. Doug was born in Ottawa to Elwood and Jane Whyte. He had two older sisters and a brother; Eileen (deceased), Leila (husband Russell), and Clifford (wife Sharon). Doug met his wife of 52 years, Marsha Whyte (née Hunt) at high school in Stittsville, Ontario, at a teen dance where they were immediately inseparable and married shortly thereafter. Doug had a successful career with Bell Canada in telecommunication network engineering and construction that would take him across Ontario and internationally with a five-year assignment in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Doug retired from Bell Canada after 36 years of distinguished service, then embarked to the United States as a Director at Expertech Network Installations where he resided in Colorado, North Carolina, and Florida before returning to Canada and settling in New Hamburg, Ontario. Doug and Marsha had three children together; daughter Andrea Whyte and grandson Riley of Calgary; daughter Laura White, husband Greg and grand-daughters Abby and Sophie of Ancaster; and son Greg Whyte, wife Shannon and grandsons Ethan and Nolan of Innisfil. Doug was a thoughtful and reserved man of unmatched integrity. He had an innate ability to connect and establish strong bonds with people from all walks of life with ease. Perhaps most notable was Doug’s work ethic which was beyond reproach, something he honed on his parent’s farm as a child. Doug spent his spare moments working on building projects at his, or his children’s residences. He was an avid golfer and accomplished hunter, where he enjoyed this time with family and old friends while surrounded by nature. Recognizing the love Doug had for his grandchildren, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Sick Kids Hospital. There will be a visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home located at 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, Ontario on Friday October 1st, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday October 2nd, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to attend must RSVP on the funeral home website. Face masks must be work at all times and social distancing followed. Personal condolences and donation information available at
