Caroline Margaret Worth-Tyrrell

Caroline Worth-Tyrrell passed away of natural causes in Stuart, FL on Sunday, July 18th. She wouldn’t have told you her age so we won’t either but she was born in Arlington, MA on September 8, 19-something, grew up in Belmont, MA, but spent most of her life in the NYC/Morristown, New Jersey area.

Caroline was a third generation theatre professional, a gifted actress/singer/dancer, director/ choreographer, and theatre teacher. She and her husband, Brad Tyrrell, owned and operated Worth-Tyrrell Studios School Of Performing Arts in Morristown, NJ from 1978 through 2012 before retiring to Florida in 2013.

Caroline fondly remembered her years of boarding school at The Academy of the Assumption in Wellesley, Massachusetts while her parents, Coley and Marcia Worth, toured vaudeville. They later settled in New Jersey where she graduated from Bayley Ellard High School in Madison and attended Upsala College in East Orange before embarking on a professional theatre career which included lead roles in many regional productions, tours, and Off-Broadway shows in NYC.

Her performing career eventually took a backseat to raising two sons in Morristown, NJ and taking over her parents’ dance school, Ray-Worth School Of Dance, before teaming up with Brad to expand it and become Worth-Tyrrell Studios School Of Performing Arts. Caroline and Brad owned and operated the studio until their retirement in 2012 and subsequent move to FL. Numerous students (including her sons) went on to professional performing careers, which include many with Broadway and TV/film credits, but she was equally proud of students who excelled in other fields with the help of her training. Caroline also directed and choreographed dozens of community theatre and high school productions all around North Jersey and brought volunteer musical productions to nursing homes, senior centers, and hospitals. She loved her work and her family.

She is survived by her husband, Brad; two sons, Matthew Anderson and Lucas Darnell; a stepdaughter, Sherry Tyrrell; her sisters, Penny Worth and Wendy Worth; her brother, Peter Worth; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please share a memory and/or photo on the tribute wall and go see some live theatre when you can.
