Cranston, RI – Francis “Frank” C. Kay, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 16, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Daisy M. (Hamilton) Kay with whom, at the time of her death in 2015, he had celebrated 66 years of marriage. Born in Johnston, the son of the late Frank and Elsie (Chadwick) Kay, he lived in the same home in Cranston most of his married life. He was a World War II United States Army Air Force veteran. He worked as a screw machinist for many years employed by the former R.C. Lewis Company of Providence. He was a longtime member of Church of the Master, Providence where he sang in the choir and served for many years as Financial Secretary. A member of the Freemasons, he was a past master of Mount Vernon Lodge #4 F&AM, a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Providence and a member of the Rhode Island Shriners and served as Captain of the Temple Guard. He will be remembered as a man devoted to his family, church, and friends; and was an avid stamp collector, loved fishing, family vacations, church activities and jigsaw puzzles. He is survived by two children: James A. Kay and Diane K. LeSuer (husband John); six grandchildren: Robert LeSuer, Kerrie LeSuer-Reed, David, Alison & Jonathan Kay, and Bethany Sweet, and six great grandchildren: Nicholas Burdick and Elizabeth Reed, Megan, Heather & April Kay, and Madison Sweet. He was the brother of the late Edna F. Curtis, Dorothy R. Sutherland, and Beverly J. Dowding. His funeral service will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11 AM. Calling hours immediately prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00. Burial with military honors will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston. Donations in his memory may be made by donating online or by sending checks to the RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight Hub, PO Box 28132, Providence, RI 02908.
