Mary Lou DeClercq of Commerce Twp., MI passed away on April 15, 2021 at the age of 75. Mary Lou was born in Falls Creek, Pennsylvania on March 29, 1946 to Theodore Nick and Viola Grace (nee. Dunn) Misko. When Mary was very young the family moved to Michigan where she grew up and attended school in the Farmington area. Soon after graduation, Mary began her working career. She was employed by Mac Valves where she worked for over 40 years as a sales representative. Mary was a fantastic cook - creating traditional Polish cuisine enjoyed by the entire family. She loved to travel - especially to warmer climates. Vacations were often ‘family inclusive’ with her daughter Dawn’s family and mother in law, Linda. These travels gave her the opportunity to watch her granddaughter Addison grow and learn as they visited places such as Disney World, took cruises to Mexico, the Caribbean and Jamaica. There wasn’t a roller coaster that Mary would shy away from - as she always enjoyed the thrill of the ride. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and supporting them in all their endeavors. She especially enjoyed time with her daughter, Dawn and granddaughter Addison, watching them ride horses and develop and improve their talents in equestrian competition and exhibitions. Mary would fashion and create costumes not only for Addison but for her horse as well. Mary is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Joseph) Raye; grandcaughter, Addison Raye; stepchildren, David (Terese) DeClercq, Robert DeClercq and Susan DeClercq; step granddaghter, Danielle Cullen; siblings, Regina Frankowiak, Todd (Sally) Misko and Sherry (William) Watkins; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Roger in 2007 and children, Diane DeClercq and Donald DeClercq. A Graveside Service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, 43300 W 12 Mile Rd, Novi, MI 48377.
