<p>Susan B. Nelson, 61, of Kenosha, passed away after battling breast cancer on Friday, January 1, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. </p><p><br></p><p> Born in Lake Forest, IL, on November 18, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Barbara (Lahiff) Tancula.</p><p><br></p><p> On November 14, 1987, she married John Nelson at St. Mary’s Church in Evanston, IL.</p><p><br></p><p> Susan received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Boston College in 1981. From that day forward, she was a dedicated educator. She taught special education and primary education to many children through the years, including those at Day School, Cove School, and Glenbrook North High School in IL, at St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s Catholic Schools in Kenosha, and at Our Lady of Grace in Racine. She also was a tutor to many.</p><p><br></p><p> She was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed watching her son Eddie play baseball and her daughters, Maggie and Annie, playing sports and dancing. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed crafting and going antiquing.</p><p><br></p><p> Left to cherish Susan’s memory are her husband, John; three children, Margaret, Edward, and Anna Nelson; five siblings, James (Martha) Tancula, Robert (Laurie) Tancula, Margaret (John) Vignocchi, Elizabeth (James) Manos, and Patricia (Joseph) Partington; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred (Sandy) Nelson, Robert (Nina) Nelson, Mary (John) Weiss, Patricia Lystila, Michael (Susan) Nelson, and James (Caroline) Nelson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.</p><p><br></p><p> The family would like to extend a thank you to all who gave her medical care at Northwestern Memorial and Horizon Hospice for the care they provided.</p><p><br></p><p> Visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7307 40th Ave, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Anyone planning on attending services will be required to wear a facial covering and follow social distancing guidelines.
