Mary Louise Hilliard
Mary Louise "Lou" Hilliard, 83, of Ocean Pines, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD after living her life to the fullest despite a diagnosis of cancer almost three years ago. Born May 4, 1937 in Raleigh, NC, she was the daughter of the late William H. Hilliard and the late Beverly Swain Hilliard. Lou graduated from Atlantic High School and worked for more than 60 years as an administrative and executive assistant, including more than 30 years at Deeley Insurance Group. She also was an accomplished artist, working primarily in oils, and for a number of years teamed with her father to create award-winning hand carved and painted decorative waterfowl decoys. She was a lifelong lover of nature, dogs and bad puns, and retained her lively curiosity and sense of humor to the end of her life. Lou is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Linda and Charles Cuttone of Princess Anne, MD, and will be sorely missed by them and her large circle of friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and lifelong companion Jimmy Lee Powell. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery, 31116 Temperanceville Road, Temperanceville Virginia 23442. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to A Pet For Life in Salisbury, MD, the Worcester County Humane Society or The Joseph House in Salisbury.
