Barbara Ann Wiley Burson Knight

Barbara Ann Wiley Burson Knight, 74, of Hot Springs, departed this life in the early morning hours of October 21, 2020 after a very brief illness. Barbara was born to Asa Atwell Wiley and Verda Timmons Wiley on October 21, 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jim Knight. A 1964 graduate of Magnolia High School in Magnolia, AR, Barbara attended Southern State College now (Southern Arkansas University) in the mid 60s. Along with her late husband, Jim Knight, they attended the Diamondhead Community Church while they lived at Diamondhead. After Jim’s death, Barbara moved into Hot Springs where she was attending First Baptist Church. She dearly loved the people and activities at First Baptist. Barbara spent her work life as an administrative assistant at various businesses around Smackover, Crossett and Hot Springs. Her most recent full time employment was with Tim Parker Chrysler in Hot Springs. At the time of her death she was working part time with Hot Springs Title in Hot Springs. She said many times that she loved her work there because they were always glad to see her. Barbara had a hardnose work ethic. She treated the business of each company she worked for as if it were her company. She believed that if you were due to be at work that is where you better be. She passed that philosophy to her sons and grandchildren. Like most mothers she was a loyal supporter of both her son’s activities. Many hours were spent at an athletic field rooting for her team and her boys. As the grandkids came along she kept rooting for them in whatever activity they were involved in. She was the first to pat them on the back when they had a success and the first to pick them up when they had a stumble. She even kept up with the nieces and nephews and quietly rooted for them even though they probably never knew it. She was proud of all her family. Barbara is survived by her sons Jeff (Felisha) Burson of Smackover, AR and Chris Burson of Norphlet, AR; her grandchildren, Lindsay Burson Stultz (Austin) of Deridder, Louisiana, Beau Burson and Kara Burson of Smackover, AR, Seth Byrd of Smackover, AR and Destiny Burson of Benton, Louisiana; her brothers Delwyn Wiley (Karen) of Hot Springs, AR and Bill Wiley (Judy) of Lafayette, Louisiana; the father of her sons, Billy Joe Burson; 4 nieces and 4 nephews and a caring and compassionate human being, Billy Neal. There are no services scheduled at this time. Cremation service will be handled by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home of Hot Springs. Barbara’s entire family extends their heartfelt thank you to all that have reached out with love and support. There is now a void in our hearts that cannot be filled. Barbara Ann Wiley Burson Knight will be missed by friends and family alike.
