<p><p>On April 15, 1937 Noel Rudolph (Rudy) Worrell was born to Sylvia (Baby) Worrell and Garfield Worrell in the St Michael parish of Barbados. He was the eldest of 7 children.</p><br> <p><br> Known as N.R. by classmates, Noel by colleagues and Rudy by friends and family, Rudy attended Primary School at St Leonard’s Boys School (1942 – 1944), Wesley Hall Boys School (1944 – 1949) and Combermere Secondary School graduating in 1956.</p><br> <p><br> He married his childhood sweetie Shirley and during this union of 57 years union were born 5 daughters.</p><br> <p><br> Upon completing secondary school, Rudy worked for Barbados Public Service from 1956-1966. In 1966 he emigrated to Brooklyn, NY where he worked at the Barbados Mission to the United Nations until 1969, he went on to work for Merrill Lynch Brokerage as a Market Account Research Specialist.&nbsp; While working full-time he attended Brooklyn College at night when, in 1972, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.&nbsp; He continued his education at New York University and in 1974 earned a master’s degree in Public Administration. In 1981 he left Merrill Lynch for employment with NYC Human Resources Administrations as a Senior Analyst, retiring in 2002.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><br> <p><br> Rudy's interests included photography, travel, genealogy and writing.&nbsp; He traveled to England, Europe, Brazil &amp; throughout the Caribbean and brought home a plethora of photos &amp; mementos of his adventures. He researched the Worrell &amp; Gittens family lineage back to the early 1800’s and compiled a comprehensive family tree. He was proud to be a Bajan and enjoyed learning about other cultures and languages.&nbsp; He also authored a quintet of short stories. Rudy enjoyed soccer, cricket &amp; baseball.</p><br> <p><br> Rudy transitioned from this life peacefully at home surrounded by immediate family on August 9, 2020. Those who were awaiting his heavenly arrival were his parents, Garfield &amp; Sylvia Worrell, his sister Claudette Yarde &amp; brother-in-law Cedric Williams.</p><br> <p><br> Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley, children: Shelley-ann, Toni, Nicole, Crystal &amp; Nariya. Sons-in -law Wayne &amp; Lester Jr.&nbsp; Grandchildren:&nbsp; Ashanti, Khaaled, Ciara, Makalya &amp; Caleb. Great-granddaughter: London.&nbsp; Sisters: Patricia (and her husband Carl), Sarah &amp; Sylvia. Brothers: Richard &amp; Wendell (and his wife Sandy). Nieces: Charmaine, Carolyn, Ingrid, Mary-Naomi, Ruth-Abigail, Susanna-Pearl &amp; Ester-Joy. Nephews: Ricardo, Antonio, Christopher, Timothy-John &amp; David-John. Cousin: Vere (and his wife Jean) and a host of other cousins, relatives and lifelong friends and alumni.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> </p>
