Martha J. Blank, 74, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 at her home. She was born August 29, 1945 in Louisville, KY the daughter of John Hayes and Myrtle Richert Boyd. She was a schoolteacher at Edinburgh High School in Edinburgh, IN for 5 years, coached softball for the Georgetown Softball League and the St. Peter’s Church Softball League, she also taught Sunday school at St. Peter’s Lutheran church. Martha was a 4-H leader for 20+ years and was the goat superintendent for 4-H. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ in New Albany, IN and was the founder of “Keeping In Touch” a college outreach program through St. Marks. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Raymond and Robert Boyd. She is survived by her husband, James Blank, sons, James Anthony “Tony” Blank (Tiffani) and Nathan Blank (Hailee) both of Corydon; daughter, Jill Angela Thorn (Kevin) of Fort Collins, CO; brother, John Boyd (Marilyn) of Crandall, IN; sister, Anita Kost (Mike) of Florissant, MO and grandchildren, Clayton James Blank (Nikki), Cassidy Nicole Ezell (Jackson) and Hudson Henry Blank. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, August 7, 2020 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Corydon. Rev. Dr. John E. Manzo and Pastor Evangeline Rajkumar will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 7 PM Thursday, August 6, 2020 and again on Friday, from 9 AM to 10 AM at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. Pallbearers will be Clayton Blank, Phillip Kost, Dan, Dale, John W. and Dave Boyd. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to “Keeping In Touch”,please make checks payable to St. Mark’s UCC, 222 E. Spring St. New Albany, IN 47150 or through the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 we are limited to under 60 people inside the funeral home at one time, masks are required as well as practicing social distancing. We are not allowed to have food to share during this time.
