Margaret “Peggie” Robinson (nee Crose), age 75, of Evanston IL passed away on July 21st from complications of pancreatic cancer.
Peggie was for 49 years the principal jewelry designer and goldsmith at her business Peggie Robinson Designs. She had a combination retail store and work studio in downtown Evanston for over 30 years. After that closed, she continued to make jewelry at a studio also in Evanston.
Peggie was active in First Presbyterian Church of Evanston, participating in many ministries and holding several offices, including Clerk of Session, elder and deacon.
Peggie was born in San Francisco and grew up in Yakima Washington. She received her B.S. in psychology from the University of Washington. She married R-Clark Robinson in 1966 when she graduated and moved with him to Berkeley California while he went to graduate school. They moved to Evanston in 1969 when he joined the faculty of Northwestern University. She worked as a Social Worker for a couple of years while in California and the first year in Evanston. For a year during 1970-71, she lived in Rio de Janeiro Brazil with her husband while he spent a year at a mathematics institute there. While in Rio, she started making jewelry with an African influence. When she returned to the United States (Evanston), she slowly evolved her skill and designs. She was very much influenced by Alexander Calder, who made jewelry in addition to mobiles and stabiles. Peggie had first worked in metal by making brightly colored mobiles, very much influenced by Calder. Her jewelry is both beautifully designed and wearable. She started by making jewelry in the basement of her house, but quickly moved to open a combination retail store and workshop in downtown Evanston. Over the years, she expanded her store and had as many as 12 people working for her, either making or selling jewelry. She closed her retail store in 2005 and opened a studio also in Evanston. She partially retired in 2013, but continued up to her passing to make jewelry for customers who contacted her.
Peggie is survived by her loving husband of 54 years R-Clark Robinson, loving sisters Joyce (John) McClements and Roberta (Robert) Ashbaugh, as well many nieces and nephews.

A lovely person and visionary. Her jewelry was the most beautiful and not overpriced. My late husband always bought me her jewelry. She will be missed
