Roscoe “Rocky” C. Harrington, Jr. of 233 Park Street, Bennington, Vermont passed away on March 30, 2020 surrounded by his family. Rocky was born December 16, 1945 to Roscoe C. Harrington, Sr. and Marguerite (June) Barber. He received his education at the Barker School in White Creek, NY and Hoosick Falls Central School. Rocky served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969 as a member of SAC (Strategic Air Command). Rocky worked as a certified auto mechanic at Hogan Chevrolet and Williams and Bugbee. He also worked as a machinist at Oak Industries and as Quality Control Manager at Furon for twenty-seven years, and Quality Control Team Leader at Nastech. He retired in 2001. Surviving family members are his wife of 53 years, Alberta Thibodeau Harrington; his daughter Dolores (Didi) Gingue (Raymond) of Arlington, VT; his son Dennis (Michael) Harrington (Tina) of North Bennington, VT; his son Roscoe (Ross) Harrington (Cathy) of North Bennington, VT; his daughter Dawn King (William) of Warwick, RI. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Shelby Sukuskas (Tyler) of White Creek, NY; Zachary Gingue & Amelia Gingue of Arlington, VT; Paige Harrington and Matthew Harrington of North Bennington, VT; Olivia King Cram (Jacob) of Visalia, CA and Luke King and Gavin King of Warwick, RI. A great-grandson Mason Sukuskas and due soon another great-grandson Grayson Cram. He is survived by two nephews, Brent Kipp (Rachel) and Eric Kipp (Allison) all of Bennington, VT; and a brother-in-law Paul Kipp of Stamford, VT. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved sister Sandra Kipp. His main interest was his family. Rocky was a former member of the Bennington Lions Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a professional fly-tier and fishing rod builder. Arts he has passed on to his children and grandchildren. He owned the Gray Hackle Fly Shop in Pownal, VT for many years. Due to Covid-19, there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made to Southwest Vermont Regional Cancer Center Crusaders and/or American Heart Association Vermont Chapter through the office at Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
