<p>JAMES JOSEPH DERAN, III, age 76 years, died in his home in Delta, PA on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Born in Baltimore, MD on July 20, 1936, he was a son of the late James Joseph DeRan, Jr., and Helen (Harry) DeRan.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. DeRan was a 1954 graduate of North Harford High School in Pylesville, MD, and a lifetime resident of the area. He had served 4 years in the U.S. Navy before completing 16 years with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. DeRan retired in 2003 from Aberdeen Proving Ground with 20 years of service as a Truck Driver/Ammo Handler. He was a member of the John S. Murphy V.F.W. Post #7130 in Delta and the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, MD. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Orioles and the University of Maryland Terps.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by:</p><p>Two children-</p><p>Diane Daum and her husband, Robert Andy Daum, II of Mountville, PA</p><p>Brian DeRan of Los Angeles, CA</p><p><br></p><p>Three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>A sister, Sally Grace and her husband, Bob of Castleton, VT</p><p><br></p><p>Three brothers-</p><p>Charles Harry DeRan and his wife, Carole of Bel Air, MD</p><p>John DeRan of Delta, PA</p><p>David DeRan and his wife, Roxanne of Delta, PA</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by a son, Michael DeRan.</p><p><br></p><p>Following cremation, “A Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post #182, 2217 Whiteford Road, Whiteford, MD.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to Wounded Warriors </p><p>Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675</p><p><br></p>July 20, 1936 - September 15, 201307/20/193609/15/2013
