INGEBORG (INGE) ELFRIEDE MADONIA-KOEBERICH

FEBRUARY 7, 1920 – JANUARY 15, 2013

Inge died peacefully at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital with her beloved “Hanschen” by her side. Hans and Inge were together for 59 years. She was predeceased by both her younger sister and brother many years ago and was the last surviving member of her family. Inge immigrated to Toronto from Germany in 1953. She worked as a secretary in Berlin and Paris and continued with this vocation here in Canada, working for the Toronto School Board and for Dr. Stein on Roncesvalles Ave. in Toronto. Hans and Inge moved to their cottage in Wasaga Beach upon his retirement. Inge loved to socialize and disliked to cook, so when her oven stopped working 30 years ago, she regarded it as a double blessing and she and Hans ‘dined out’ nightly for the last 30 years. They especially enjoyed dining at Montana’s, Kelsey’s, The Rock Dell and the Georgian Bay Family Restaurant; where the staff treated them like family. Inge and Hans were not fortunate enough to have children of their own, but she always had a kind or encouraging word, not to mention a candy, in her purse for other peoples’ children. Inge loved her pets, especially her old dog, Rexy and her cats: along with Hans, they were her ‘raison d’être’ in her retirement years. Hans wishes to express his thanks to all the kind and caring nursing staff at the Collingwood Hospital as well as to Dr. Koo, Dr. Lowe, Dr. McCall and Dr. Rowlinson. He would also like to thank Dr. Ron Timpson, who looked after Inge for 40 years prior to his retirement. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday February 6, 2013 at Kelsey’s in Collingwood.

February 7, 1920 - January 15, 201302/07/192001/15/2013
