Josh Leffler Obituary

Joshua Mel Leffler was born to John and Pam Leffler on December 7, 1984 in Duncan, OK and passed away at 35 years old on December 4, 2020.

Viewing will be Tuesday, December 8, 8:00 A.M.-7 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, at 1:00 P.M. at New Hope Baptist Church West with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. The funeral service will be live streamed on newhopeduncan.com. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.

His Countyline upbringing fostered Josh’s love for the outdoors and shaped him into the hardworking and generous Christian man we all know and love. He attended school at Velma-Alma, where he graduated in 2004. Following high school, he attended the University of Oklahoma and, in 2009, graduated with degrees in Energy Management and Finance.

At only 24 years old, Josh launched his impressive career by starting his first company, Black Hawk Mineral Partners, with partner, Charlie Brown. He continued to be a founder and developer of numerous businesses, including Peak Energy in 2017 with partner, Matt Hogg. His work ethic and attention to detail propelled him to be the accomplished young businessman that so many respected and admired.

Josh’s love for the outdoors began at an early age. It’s where he found himself the happiest, whether hunting, fishing, or boating. Josh had a passion for traveling. He explored and witnessed so many of God's beautiful creations. It was more meaningful for him to share these moments with the people he loved. These moments were made even more special having his girlfriend, Randi, whom he loved dearly, by his side.

Josh's faith played an ever-present role in his life. Chasing after a blue marlin in the ocean, watching the sun rise over the mountains, or being surrounded by his best friends, Josh knew the love of God. He did not take his blessings for granted. He shared God's love with everyone he met, and his generosity will have an everlasting effect on so many.

Josh was the best of all of us. His legacy will live on through the friendships he cherished and his spirit will forever be in the hearts of those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his best friend and brother, Jacob Lee Leffler, in May 2000; his grandparents: Charlie Leffler, Christine Leffler, and Melvin LaQuey; and his uncle, DeWayne LaQuey.

He is survived by his loving parents, John and Pam Leffler; grandmother, Rowena LaQuey; aunt and uncle, Charlene and Ron Botts; cousins, Missy LaQuey and Jenny Capps; girlfriend, Randi McLain; as well as many dear friends and honorary nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to the Josh Leffler Scholarship Fund at Valliance Bank.
