John Russel Stupak Obituary

John Stupak of the Homefield district passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. He was 77 years of age. John Russell Stupak was born January 20th, 1942 to Fred and Annie (nee Horudko) Stupak, he was the 8th of 8 children. Born on the family farm in the Homefield district, he and his siblings received their educations at Smokeside School. John's life was working on the family farm with his brothers Peter and Bill. He continued to farm the land and raise cattle until he retired in 2013, after which he continued to live on the Stupak homestead. To say he was an avid sportsman would be an understatement. Whether he was hunting, fishing or trapping he was always happiest to do it with his best buddies. John, along with his brother Peter, were founding members of the Beaverhills Wildlife Federation in 1972, which he was a member of until the day of his death. Driving his ATV and golfing were also ways he liked to get outside. But if he couldn't be out in the bush, he could happily be heard saying "Bud!, Let's go for a ride," to his most beloved dog at the time. John leaves behind his sisters Olga Fedyk and Nettie Kreway, sisters-in-law Dorothy Stupak and Olga Stupak, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews as well as cousins and friends to cherish his memory. John was predeceased by his parents, brothers Peter & Bill, sisters Mary (Harry) Mtyko, Eva (Steve) Sudyn, cousin Lawrence and Anne (Joe) Fedyk; brother-in-law John Fedyk and cousin Andy Fedyk. Prayers were held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 and the Funeral Liturgy on Friday, December 27, 2019, both at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Rev. Father Jeffrey Stephaniuk as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ladmer Moskal, Wayne Boczulak and Heide Spilchuk. The cross bearer was John Zuchkan and the epistle reader was Leteecia Baynton. Serving as honorary bearers were David Ivanochko, Benny Smuk, Roman Marshall, Bill Maduck, Orest Smuk and Dick Ivanochko. A eulogy was conveyed by Colleen Flamont and Betty Stupak. The interment followed in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Jerry Flamont, Willy Zuchkan, Jeff Smuk, Jason Stupak, Cliff Ivanochko and Dennis Duda serving as the casket bearers. Memorial donations may be made in memory of John to the Sacred Heart Special Projects Fund or Beaverhills Wildlife Federation as gifts of remembrance.
