Bernadine "Bernie" Catherine Shaw, 88, of Hannibal, Missouri, passed away at 10:08 AM Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Friday, June 17, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Family is being served by James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Bernie was born December 14, 1927, in Hull, Illinois to Harvey J. and Catherine Goellner Schwartz. She was married to William "Bill" F. Shaw, Jr. on April 25, 1946. He survives. Together Bill and Bernie recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Other survivors include 3 children, Sharon M. Hoffmann of St. Louis, MO, Barb A. O'Brien of Hannibal, MO, Steven F. Shaw (Emily J.) of Lake Ozark, MO, 1 brother, Frank Schwartz of Palmyra, MO,1 sister, Gladys Baxter of Colorado Springs, CO, 7 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandsons, George D. Clayton V and Chase Allen Shaw, 1 brother, Harold Schwartz and 2 sisters, Helen Dirks and Dorothy Wiskirchen. Bernie was a homemaker. She had also previously worked at the International Shoe Factory, The Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and for Motorola. Bernie enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. A talented cook and baker, Bernie made the best pies, vegetable soup and chili, among other favorites. Bernie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and always liked to watch “Judge Judy” on T.V. Travelling with her husband Bill and family were some of Bernie’s best times. She enjoyed spending time at Lost Valley Lake, vacationing in Colorado and at the Lake of the Ozarks. Bernie loved her neighborhood and always enjoyed visiting with her neighbors. Most of all Bernie cherished the time she shared with her family. Bernie was formerly a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hannibal and currently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hoffmann, Christopher Hoffmann, Patrick O'Donnell, Derek O'Brien, Justin Shaw, and Gary Baxter. Honorary pallbearers will be Gabrielle Keesey, Brittni Shaw, and Ashley O'Brien.
