Nita E. Smith, 86, of Carbon Cliff passed away May 15, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Funeral services will be 1pm Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 11am until service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Nita was born Aug. 18, 1930 in Barton City, Michigan the daughter of William and Theresa Johnston Joseph. She married John Koehler in Rock Island, IL. He passed away June 24, 2000. She later married Richard P. Smith. He passed away May 10, 2002. Nita worked at Arrowhead Ranch as a cook and at O’Melia’s Supper Club as a waitress. She enjoyed doing yardwork, gardening, planting flowers, playing cards, watching scary movies and loved cooking for the family. Survivors include her children Cindy Koehler of Colona, Steve Koehler of Ft. Meyers, FL and Teresa Clark of East Moline; grandchildren Damie, Kellie, Brandon and Bryan; great grandchildren Sean, Devin, TJ, Mason, Katelyn, Emma and Jace. Nita was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands and 5 sisters.August 18, 1930 - May 15, 201608/18/193005/15/2016
