Rapid City, SD - Funeral service for Dean L. Patton, 61, of Rapid City will be 9:00 am, Friday, June 17, 2016 at Mother Butler Center in Rapid City. The Rev. Ed Witt S.J. will officiate. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors provided by Sturgis Veteran Honor Guard. A luncheon at the Mother Butler Center will follow the burial. An overnight wake will start at 5:00 pm on Thursday at the Mother Butler Center with a rosary service at 7:00 pm. Dean L. Patton entered the spirit world on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital after a long illness with prostate cancer. Dean was born on September 17, 1954 on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to Bonnie (Gerry) and Norbert Patton Sr. He married Patricia Owens in Rapid City, SD. Dean worked and retired from the Security Department at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Dean was one of the most caring individuals that you will ever meet. He was always there to help his family in their time of need. He was not only an uncle to his nieces and nephews but a father figure also. Dean join the US Navy in 1972. He was honorably discharged after injuring his knee while on active duty. Dean was an awesome artist. His drawings and paintings were bragged on by some of the best artists around. He leaves cherished memories with his sisters Elaine (James) Hairston and Jeanne Grage; two special nieces Katrina Hale and her daughter Niveana Hale; and all his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Dean was preceded in death by wife Patricia, parents Bonnie and Norbert, step-father Carl Lundgren, siblings Darlene Dewitt, Norbert Patton Jr., Ron Grage, Mike Grage and numerous half-brothers. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Another angel going home. Arrangements are with Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel.
