MonaLou Marie Emerfoll (Geisinger) Maplewood, Minnesota Obituary

MonaLou Marie Emerfoll (Geisinger)

MonaLou was born June 19, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was the oldest of two girls to Adelheid (nee Saumweber) and John Geisinger. She graduated from St. Matthews High School and met the love of her life, Donald Emerfoll. They were married at Transfiguration Catholic Church on August 17, 1952. She and Don had eight children together and raised them in both St. Paul and Oakdale. MonaLou spent her time caring for the children but in her spare time she enjoyed raising animals and gardening. The Emerfoll family loved getting together to play games or baseball and MonaLou would host everyone at the house. She could feed a big crowd and was known for throwing everything together into a pot for a delicious meal. Once a year she would host a big Booya for her family and friends. She was an excellent quilter and would make receiving blankets for every new baby in the family. She enjoyed having friends over to make ceramics with her kiln. MonaLou was the oldest member of Transfiguration Catholic Church and was a part of it when they were still meeting for Mass at Landy's Tavern. At church, she was a member of their sewing group and volunteered for many of their other groups. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Don" Emerfoll; her sister, Mary Ann (Edward) St. Ledger; her parents, Adelheid and John Geisinger; son, Donald Emerfoll, Jr.; and grandson, Jason Emerfoll. She is survived by her children, Dan (Diane) Emerfoll of Maplewood, Dee (Ron Hawkins) Von Wald of White Bear Lake, Doug (Jackie) Emerfoll of Maplewood, Den (Traci) Emerfoll of St. Paul, Dave (Darla) Emerfoll of Oakdale, Dorena (Mike) Scott of Oakdale, and Deb (Todd) Schirmer of Oakdale; her sister-in-law, Helen Mattick; 18 grandchildren, Steven, Dustin, Jeremy, Den Emerfoll Jr., Den Von Wald Jr., Joey, Tonya, Lisa, Jennifer, Jessica, Jamie, Jodie, Amanda, Tina, Alicia, Mindy, Tara, and Katie; 26 great-grandchildren with 2 more great-grandchildren on the way; and other family and friends.
