Alton “Burl” Brown, age 87, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He was born November 30, 1932, in Lawrence County, Missouri, the son of Alton and Lora (Younts) Brown. Burl was a 1951 graduate of Miller High School and was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a cattle farmer and worked in construction. On February 16, 1955, he married Challis Lavon Greer in Miller, Missouri. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2011. Burl was survived by his daughter, Debbie Afara and her husband, Simon, of Pflugerville, Texas; two sons, David Brown of Miller and Denny Brown and his wife, Suzy, of Miller; son-in-law, Jerry Limpus of Everton, Missouri; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Burl was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Lora, wife, Challis, daughter, Denna Limpus, son, Daryl Brown and daughter-in-law, Sandra Brown. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Sycamore Cemetery.
