Mary L. (Kirk) Messer went to be with her heavenly father and parents on December 13, 2019 at 8:20am at her home surrounded by her children and family. Mary was born July 22, 1962 in Columbus, OH to the late Ernest Ray Kirk and Delphia Jean (Muncy) Kirk. Mary was a member of the Independent Church of God at Mattie, KY. Mary was a loving mother, sister, aunt and cousin and was loved by many. Mary never met a stranger and opened her heart and home to countless people throughout her short life and would help anyone in need and never turned anyone away. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Delphia Kirk, brother, Ernest Ray Kirk Jr., Maternal grandparents, Burley and Violet (Marcum) Muncy and Paternal grandparents, Charley and Maxie (Salmons) Kirk and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her fiancée, Garland Ralph Workman, sons, Donnie (Jessica Janka) Parsons of Inez, KY, Kyler Wayne Messer and Logan Lee Messer of the home, one grandson who was the light of her life, Tucker Oakley Parsons. Mary was a mother to Jameson (Maranda) Messer, Steven (Kory) Messer, Michael (Smiley) Deskins, Melissa Kay (Jessica Morrison) Messer, and Larry Dale Messer Jr. and truly considered them her children as well as many others. She also leaves behind four sisters, Maxie and William Collins and Violet L. White both of Breeden, WV, Sharon (Bruce) Harris of Ulysses, KY, Kimberly (Steve) Mann of Huntington, WV. She is also survived by a special niece Michelle (Marcum) Stacy and numerous great-nieces, nephews, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and sister cousins, and former husband and friend Larry D. Messer. She is also survived by 3 special little girls whom she loved very much and who loved her, Chloe Ann Workman, Brianna Janka, and Olivia Janka. Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Breeden Church of God from 6-10pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Breeden Church of God with William B. Collins, William Ernest Collins, and Micah Marcum officiating. Burial will follow in the Charley E. Kirk Cemetery of Breeden, WV. Pallbearers will be David Collins, Melvin Romans, Chris Stacy, Keith Marcum, Micah Marcum, William E. Collins, Mithchell Ray White, and Honorary Pallbearers, Joshua Mann and Robert Perry Jr. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be serving the family of Mary L. Kirk Messer.
