A Memorial Service for Carolyn Kay Mauderly is scheduled for Saturday, December 21, with visitation at 10 AM, followed by the memorial service at 11 AM at Cummings Family Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at New Life Missionary Church in Bedford. Jeff Cummings will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carolyn’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association (7285 W 132nd St. #160, Overland Park, Kansas 66213) or www.diabetes.org “Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.” Carolyn Kay Mauderly passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in St. Joseph, Missouri at 72 years of age. Carolyn Kay (Young) Mauderly was born in Creston, Iowa to George and Nina Young on November 14, 1947. She graduated from Lenox High School in 1966 and completed her nursing degree at Iowa Western Community College. While attending school she met Jerry Mauderly, whom she married in 1967. Carolyn and Jerry long called an acreage just outside of Bedford home, where she spent many days working in the garden, cooking hearty meals and happily visiting with friends and family. The couple raised two children, Douglas and Sarah. Carolyn enjoyed camping, baking, sharing recipes, square dancing, playing cards, and being a grandmother. She was an active, dedicated member of her church and community and loved by many. Carolyn is survived by Jerry, her husband of 52 years and their children: Douglas Mauderly of Bedford and Sarah (Michael) Popelka, of Seattle, Washington; her brother and two sisters: Ron (Barbara) Young of Davenport, Linda (John) Weeber of Lenox, and Lois Thompson of Shenandoah; her grandchildren Claire and Sam Popelka of Seattle; and countless loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends from far and wide.
