Michael "Mike" Gene Cooper

Michael Gene Cooper was born March 4, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Lloyd Dale and Imogene Mae (Boren) Cooper. He departed this life on December 12, 2019 at home at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 8 days. Growing up, Mike attended school in Inola. His family moved to the Oaks area where he graduated high school there in 1975. He also obtained mechanic training at the Bill Willis Skill Center in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. On December 23, 1976, he and Sharline Cole were united in marriage. The couple had been married almost 42 years. The Rocky Ford area was home to Mike and his family most all of his life. He first worked at Gardner Denver and Midwestern Nurseries before going to work for Simmons Food. He was a Warehouse attendant and had worked for them for over 29 years. Mike loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved his family dearly and treasured every moment spent with them, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed cooking on the grill when he was able. Mike will be missed by each and every one that knew him. Mike is survived by: his wife: Sharline, of the home; 2 children: Renee Walker and and Shelly Cooper, both of Rocky Ford, Oklahoma; 4 grandsons: J McCollum, Ryan McCollum, Toby McCollum, and Jakeb Walker; 2 brothers: Jimmy Cooper of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Royce Cooper and wife Betty of Rocky Ford, Oklahoma; 3 sisters-in-law: Janet Butler and husband Mike of Antlers, Oklahoma, Paula Poteet and husband Rick of Keys, Oklahoma, and Becky Grogan of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; 1 brother-in-law: L.D. Kirk of Leach, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents and I sister-in-law: Elaine Kirk. Funeral services were held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Terry Wofford and Reverend Keith Marler officiated. Interment followed at Oaks Cemetery. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
