Stephen “Steve” G. Williams, 69, of Arkansas City, died Thursday (December 12, 2019) at his home with his family by his side. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday (January 18, 2020) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time. The family asks that friends wear their Kansas City Chiefs or Kansas City Royals fan gear to the service. Steve was born October 7, 1950, in Arkansas City, to William and Georgia Lee (VanZant) Williams. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating in 1968. He joined the United States Army in 1969, and was honorably discharged in 1975. He married Tracey Eileen Potter on January 19, 1971, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The couple made their home in Arkansas City after his Army service. Steve worked in the maintenance department at Total Refinery for many years and later in maintenance and grounds for USD 470. He was a lifetime member of the Spencer-Ralston Post 125 VFW. Survivors include his wife Tracey of the home; daughter Michelle “Shelly” and husband Erik Huffman of Arkansas City; sister Nancy and husband “AC” Boland of Pratt; sister-in-law Trudy and husband Dave Kennedy of Arkansas City; two grandchildren Alivia and Hayley Huffman; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Nicholas Potter, and a great-nephew Noah Nelson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Kansas Veteran’s Home of Winfield.
