Martha Marie White, daughter of the late Hurley and Annie Mae Waples, was born Tuesday, January 13, 1948, in Rehoboth, Delaware. She departed this life Thursday, December 12, 2019, at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware. Martha attended elementary school in Rehoboth and William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown. Martha was last employed as a home health care provider. She truly enjoyed caring for others and since her personality was one of compassion, she was very good at it. Because of Martha’s professional work ethic, her clients' families wanted her to stay with their families a whole week at a time to care for their loved ones. Her interactions with her clients let them know that she cared for them deeply. Martha was united in holy matrimony to William P. “Bunny” White in 1982. They were married for 37 years, but together for 47 years. From that union, they were blessed with one daughter, Lakisha, who gave them one granddaughter Sanaa, who resided with them. Martha was a member of New Zion A.M.E. Church, until her illness prevented her attendance and participation. While there, she served as Missionary President, Steward of the Church, and sang on both the Senior and Mass Choirs. She was often called on to read the scripture in worship service and she READ IT; so much so, that everyone could feel the power and anointing of the Lord which set the atmosphere for the worship experience. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 4. Martha was very comical and people enjoyed being around her, but she was serious about the Lord and her salvation. She would let everyone know that her birthday was January 13th, all during the year, starting January 13th . There was no way anyone could forget her birthday. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by brother, Augustus Waples and sister, Irene Morris. Martha leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories, her husband William; one daughter, Lakisha White of Lewes, DE; one son, Vernon Keith Miller of PA; grandson, Don'Shay Wheeler of Lewes, DE; granddaughters, Sanaa White of Lewes, DE and Keanhyzia Miller of PA; brother, Hurley Waples, Jr. (Estelle) of Rehoboth; two sisters, Ada Burton (Martin) of Rehoboth, and Emma Harmon (Thomas) of Lewes; three sisters-in law, EIizabeth Waples, Rev. Charlotte White and Joyce Gibbs; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Psalm 4:8 "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety"
