James Matheson, age 87 of Lenoir, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Magnolia Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 3, 1932, son of the late Russell and Ruth Shook Matheson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Lowe Matheson; two brothers, Junior and Archie Matheson; one daughter, Julie Matheson. Those left to cherish his memory are three sons, Randy Matheson of Morganton, Mark Matheson (Misty) of Lenoir, Tim Greene of Lenoir; one daughter, Debbie Smith (Roy) of Hudson; one sister, Shirley Berry of Lenoir; three grandchildren, Montagia and Macy Matheson, Natasha Keller. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church, from 2:00-3:00 pm. The funeral will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. Bobby Pritchard officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden, Lenoir, NC.
