Howard Gilbert Bovat

East Fairfield – Howard Gilbert Bovat a lifelong area resident passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, surrounded by his family. Born at home in Bakersfield, he was the son of the late Lemond F. and Doris (Wells) Bovat. Howard was 83 years old. On November 27, 1972, in East Fairfield, he married Beverly Messier, who survives him. Howard served his country in the U.S. Army, receiving his honorable discharge on February 28, 1965. He was a 27-year associate with H.W. Hungerford, Inc as a mechanic and continued after to work with Ron Hemond at their auto body repair shop. Howard was a former member of the St. Albans Lodge # 1090, L.O.O.M. and was an avid deer hunter and stamp collector. His greatest enjoyment was his family, especially his grandchildren, who knew him as “Old Timer”. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Beverly of East Fairfield; their sons, Michael Bovat and his wife, Kathleen, of Franklin, Larry Bovat and his wife, Phyllis, of East Berkshire and Robert Bovat and his wife, Heidi, of Enosburg, as well as their daughter, Deborah Domina of East Fairfield. Howard is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer and Angela Bovat, George and Sierra Lacoste, Kevin Domina, Casey, Hunter, Annah and Krista Bovat and one great-granddaughter. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A funeral service will follow at Noon at the funeral home with the Reverend William P. Giroux, Pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church officiating. Military honors for the Army Veteran will follow. Interment will be at a later date in St. George’s Cemetery in Bakersfield.
