Ella Mae Short was born on July 17, 1924 in Brunswick County, Virginia to John J. Short, Sr. and Pearl Short. She passed on December 9, 2019 in Wilmington, DE. Ella graduated from Howard High School in Wilmington, DE. She worked for Wilmington Medical Center for more than 30 years. Ella was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church for 40 plus years. She enjoyed many hobbies and interest. Her favories were collecting " All God's Children" and Afro-American Cultural Art. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, brothers William A. Short, John J. Short,Jr., Sister Anna Dorsey and husband , Roosevelt Rowsey, Sr. Ella is survived by her children, Joyce Diane Bolling, Roosevelt Rowsey, Jr., and Michael Vaughan Rowsey; brother, Clifford L. Short; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, 4 nephews, a host of relatives and friends.
