Obituary
Jimmy Munroe Hobbs was born September 7, 1939 in Teresita, Oklahoma to George Washington and Bessie Alma (Moore) Hobbs. He departed this on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at his home in Leach at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 4 days. Jimmy grew up near Oaks and graduated high school there in 1958. He lived in California for some time where he worked setting chokers and driving a log truck. While in California, he met Ella Marie Poston. On September 22, 1961, in Sonora, California, the couple were united in marriage. For the last 35 years, Leach has been their home. The couple had been married for over 58 years. Jimmy spent most of his life working as a ranch hand and foreman, retiring in 2001. He loved being able to work on the ranch he oversaw and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of his own cattle. He also loved to shoe, break and do anything that involved a horse. Jimmy liked to hunt, especially squirrel. When able, he also enjoyed going fishing. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren dearly. He was a hard worker and provider. He will be missed by all that knew him. Jimmy is survived by: his wife: Ella Hobbs of the home; 2 daughters: Stephanie Morrison and husband Edgar of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Peggy Evans and husband Kelly of Leach, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren: Alyssa Chidester and husband Ryan of Claremore, Oklahoma and Dereck Evans and wife Dana of Leach, Oklahoma; 4 great-grandchildren: Claire, Connor, Myles, and Hudson; 1 brother: Homer Hobbs of Peggs, Oklahoma; 4 sisters: Virginia Castillo of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Faye Johnson of Peggs, Oklahoma, Dolly Chance of Moodys, Oklahoma, and Darlene Dolan of Jamestown, California; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother: Dennis Hobbs; and 2 sisters: Ruth Rose and Elizabeth Forrest. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 at Lowery Free Will Baptist Church near Twin Oaks, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Teresita Cemetery. Pastor Bryson Bailey will officiate. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
