Agnes R Tostenrud

Agnes Rachel Tostenrud, 94, of Elk Point, South Dakota passed away peacefully on December 10, 2019 at Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point, with her family by her side. Agnes was born on October 30, 1925 in Ashton, South Dakota to Patrick and Alice (Brubaker) Murray. She attended Ashton School where she graduated. After graduation, she moved to Davenport, Iowa where she met and married Charles Ray Sampica. To this union, brought daughter, Janice Rae. They later divorced. Agnes was employed at Oscar Meyer for several years. In her later years she moved to Estherville, Iowa where she met and married Lane Tostenrud. They remained married until his passing. While in Estherville, she worked and retired from Hy-Vee. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. After Lane’s passing, she moved to Elk Point, South Dakota to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Spending time with family and friends was always special to her and what meant the most. She also enjoyed doing crafts and loved to dance. Agnes was a member of the St Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point. She was also a member of the Alter Society. She had a special place in her heart for Father Joe. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Nelson; grandchildren, Bridget Behrends, Annette (Bryan) Mahin, Kelly (Larissa) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Jessi Knecht, Keegan and Caleb Mahin, Ashleigh, Trevin, Coy, Kyan, and Aislynn Nelson; and nieces and nephews Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, William, John, Felix, and Patsy; sisters, Mildred, Margaret and Mable.
