Funeral services celebrating the life of Barnes Edward Funderburk, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Dr. Stewart Holloway officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball. The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers will be Reece Wardlow, J.C. Wardlow, David Funderburk, Jr., Andrew Funderburk, Chuck Poche, and Ronnie Pickering. Mr. Funderburk, 81, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Monday, December 9, 2019 at his home. Mr. Funderburk served his country in the United States Air Force and worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Funderburk; parents, Victor Barnes and Mary Bishop Funderburk, and brother, Wesley David Funderburk. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Myra Alma Funderburk; sons, Barnes Edward Funderburk, Jr., and Gary Michael Funderburk; brother, Billy Wayne Funderburk; sister, Karen Gail Lafargue; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
