Jean Shoppe

Mrs. Jean Moore Shoppe, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Ga. following a brief illness. Born in Atlanta, Ga., on Dec. 21, 1930, Mrs Shoppe was the eldest of the four children of Thomas J. Moore and Nancy Ozell Moore. She married Frank L. Shoppe on April 22, 1951, in Atlanta, where they went on to raise their two children: Celia and Jeff. In 2003, Mr. and Mrs. Shoppe relocated to Carrollton, Ga., where their daughter Celia and her family already lived, and became active members of the community, attending Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a member of the PraiSingers, and became devoted Carrollton Trojan fans. Mrs. Shoppe loved spending time with her large and growing family and her church, and had a lifelong love of preschool education, women's missions and music ministry. She also enjoyed cake decorating and crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Edward; and brother, Alton. She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughter, Celia Jean Shoppe Ledbetter (Brett), Carrollton; son, Jeff Shoppe (Kathy), Flowery Branch; six grandchildren, Kerri Ledbetter Felder (Joe), Hogansville; Joel Ledbetter (Kate), Rome; Linsey Shoppe Mathews (Jeremy), Flowery Branch; Stevie Shoppe Lett (Josh), Flowery Branch; Mindy Shoppe, Flowery Branch, and Brady Shoppe, Flowery Branch; three great grandchildren: Annabelle Lett, Brooks Lett and Owen Ledbetter, and sister, Tommie Allen (Roger), Conyers. Visitation will be at the Tabernacle Baptist Church Worship Center on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 1:00 pm - 2:45 pm, followed by funeral services at 3 pm. Dr. Jimmy Gentry and Rev. Glenn Dyer will officiate. Music will be provided by Mark Witham, vocalist, and Charlene Wiggins, pianist. Pallbearers will be, Joel Ledbetter, Joe Felder, Brady Shoppe, Jeremy Mathews and Josh Lett; and nephew, Douglas Moore. Burial will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens. In memory of Mrs. Shoppe, donations may be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church Music Ministry. Martin & Hightower Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of arrangements.
