Richard Lewis “Dick” James, 79, of Rockport, Indiana passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dick was born on September 23, 1940 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Carl and Eloise (Crafton) James. Dick loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed working on antique tractors, IU Basketball, and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Dick had been a truck driver for many years. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Apple Fest. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dean James and Robert James. Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian James of Rockport, IN; Children, Mike James and his wife, Teresa of Rockport, IN; Kathy Mason and her husband, Kelvin of Newburgh, IN; Grandchildren, Nathan James and his wife, Kelley of Rockport, IN; Christopher James of Nashville, TN; Alyssa Mason of Newburgh, IN; Great-grandchildren, John Richard James, Dean James, Tucker James, and Cooper James; Siblings, Genell Kanzler and her husband, Fred; Sandy Tullis and her husband, Terry. Services are 10 A.M. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana with Pastor Mike Turner officiating. Burial is in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Lamar, Indiana. Visitation is from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 and from 9 A.M. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
