George "Red" Harold Massengale
George Harold “Red” Massengale, age 78 of Carrollton, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016. He was born February 14, 1938 in Carroll County to the late William Andrew Massengale and Mamie Lou Cater Massengale. He retired as supervisor at Printed Fabrics for 30 years and served as deacon at Faith Missionary Baptist Church. George married Nancy Joyce Massengale and together they shared a loving marriage for 57 years, providing an example to their adoring family. He loved being on his farm with his cattle and attending cattlesales talking with all his buddies. His memory will live on through the legacy he leaves. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Benefield, Barbara Dean, and Martha Thompson; and brothers, Junior Massengale, Jimmy Massengale, Ray Massengale, and Roy Massengale. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Joyce Massengale of Carrollton; his children, Donna Mitchell (Kim) of Bowdon, Wanda Harper (Terry) of Heflin, AL, and Rhonda Mayer (Mark) of Douglasville; sister, Mary Joe McClain (William) of Carrollton; six grandchildren, Jared Mitchell (Jessica), Kyle Mitchell (Candace), Derick Harper, Kane Harper (Mandee), Ashton Robinson, and Noah Robinson; and four great grandchildren, Laney Harper, Isabella Mitchell, Kadee Lane Harper, and Savannah Mitchell. Funeral service will be conducted Monday, April 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM from Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Brown and Rev. Don Hightower officiating. Interment will follow in Tyus Baptist Church Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com.
