Don R. Rumble

Don R. Rumble, 83, of Cynthiana, passed away December 5th, at North River Health Campus in Evansville. He was born February 8, 1936 to Earl and Dorothy (Martin) Rumble. Don graduated from Poseyville High School in 1954, and attended Indiana State University, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. Don married Mary Jo (Gries) on December 26, 1959, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Haubstadt, where they were long-time members. Mary Jo was the love of his life, and she preceded him in death on September 17 of this year. Don was a well respected educator, having taught many years at Haubstadt High School, and later in administration for South Gibson School Corporation, where he worked until his retirement in 1998. Don is survived by two sons, Robert of Cynthiana, and David and wife, Tess, of Haubstadt; two grandsons, Jacob and Joshua; and a granddaughter, Hannah, all of Haubstadt; three brothers-in-law, Harold (Clara) Gries of Newburgh, Paul (Mary Jo) Gries of Haubstadt, and Charlie (Tanya) Gries of Bowling Green, KY; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Gries of California, Barbara Hargrove of Evansville, Bernadine (Mike) Welickovitch of Pennsylvania and Margaret (Jim) Mullen of Alabama. In addition to his wife, Mary Jo, Don was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Bradley Gries and brother-in-law Bob Hargrove. A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 10 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM on Monday, December 9 at Wade Funeral Home in Haubstadt with a Rosary service beginning at 1:30 PM. Visitation will also be from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday, December 10 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Don’s family would like to thank all those who have helped in any way during the past few years; especially Dr. Waits and Dr. Kim, Oncology Hematology Associates, North River Health, and Heart to Heart Hospice.
