Joseph “Joe” Lloyd Holbert, 71, of Purvis, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Merit Health Wesley. A memorial Mass will be held Monday, December 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the services. Mr. Holbert was a Superintendent at Great Lakes Contracting in Warren, MI for 39 years before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the International Association of Iron Workers for 39 years and a member of the Ancient Craft Mason Lodge #567, F.&A.M. in Royal Oak, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Cassie Holbert, one son, Joseph “Jody” L. Holbert, II.; three brothers, Billie C. Holbert, Proctor Raymond Holbert and James A. Holbert; and one brother-in-law, Chuck Cox. He is survived by his wife, Penny Holbert of Purvis; four sons, Kenneth C. (Cheryl) Holbert of Auburn Hills, MI, Daniel Proctor (Shannon) Holbert of Algonac, MI, Paul B. Holbert of Grand Rapids, MI and Jason W. Holbert of Renton, WA; one sister, Alice Cox of New Baltimore, MI; and 9 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
