Patricia Ann Needham Hastings, Minnesota Obituary

Patricia Ann Needham

Patricia "Pat" A. Needham (Kinney) Pat was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 25, 1938, the middle of three children to Gladys (Hollister) and Ralph Kinney. While at South St. Paul High School, she met the love of her life, Paul Wayne Needham. After graduating from high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Marines as an air controller and was stationed in California. When Pat had her 18th birthday, Paul called her and asked her to marry him in Las Vegas on Fremont Street. They spent their first few years of marriage at the base in the Mohavi Desert. Their oldest son, Jeffrey, was born in California. When Jeffrey was a year and a half, they moved back to Minnesota to West St. Paul. Pat spent her time raising the three kids while Paul worked at the Minneapolis Airport. When she was 30, she got her drivers license so she could run more errands and go to bowling league. In 1969, the family moved to Cannon Falls and after the kids were older, she began working a seasonal job. After Paul retired, they moved to the Black Hills in the "Banana Belt" where they lived for 25 years. They enjoyed going out deep into the wilderness, where Pat would search for quartz and rocks. Each summer the grandchildren would go visit grandma and grandpa for a week. In 2007, Paul passed away and Pat moved back to Minnesota to be close to the kids. In her spare time, she loved reading and eating chocolate. Pat was a spitfire and had a wonderful sense of humor. All of her kids' friends loved "mom" and thought she was the greatest woman. The Needham house was the place that everyone hung out because Pat made everyone feel welcome. She was adored by all who knew her. Pat passed away peacefully at her home in Hastings on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wayne Needham; her parents, Gladys (Hollister) and Ralph Kinney; brother, Craig Kinney; grandchildren, Philip Wayne Needham, Stephan Cedarbloom, and Tiffany Fischer. Survived by children, Jeffrey (Melodie) Needham of Dresser, WI, Clayton (Liz) Needham of Titusville, FL, and Dana (Jim) Cedarbloom of Hastings, MN; her grandchildren, Valerie (Mark) Lundgren, Genevieve (the late Joe Score) Needham, Blake (Kursten) Needham, Jacob (Rachel) Hemmah, Justin Hemmah, Samantha Rose Germain, Jesse Needham, Carly (Ahren) Gross, Ashley Letourneau, Ben Cedarbloom, Tony Simmons, Tyler Needham, and Alana Needham; her sister, Claudette (Butch) Holzmer of South St. Paul; her great-grandchildren, Sid, Dylan, Parker, Ella, Mavis, Sonny, Benny, Marcie, Palmer, and Jackson; and many other family and friends.
