Destiny Soto Orem, Utah Obituary

Destiny Soto

Destiny Marie Soto 1989-2019 Goodbyes hurt the most when the story was not finished… Destiny passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2019. She was born on July 6, 1989 in Payson, Utah and grew up in Salem and Provo. Destiny was born after 3 brothers, so she was just a little spoiled by her Mom and Grandma Gloria. Denice had chosen the name Destiny for her future daughter when she was just 8 years old, so it was joyful when her little girl was finally born. Destiny always liked dressing up and loved all girly things. She loved her dolls and her barbies, and one year, she got a sandbox for her birthday. It was her favorite pastime for a long time. That is, until she was 10 years old and got a little brother named Anthony. She doted on him and carried him around and loved him like one of her dolls. Then the teen years came and things changed, but they were still very close in later years. As she grew older, she loved experimenting with make-up and her lip gloss was her best friend. She was temperamental and unpredictable most of the time, as her friends and family can attest to. You never quite knew which Destiny you were going to get from one moment to the next, but we loved her unconditionally. What she loved most in life was her son, Kareef, Candy. Fireworks, and the color red—in that order. Other things she liked was reading books, walking and hiking, and catching little fish in the river and bringing them home to a fish tank. She also loved collecting everything. From clothes to notes from 7th grade, she wanted to keep it all. One thing she always wanted to do was to travel to Egypt to see the Great Pyramids. She thought the culture was very interesting and loved the fact that they worshipped cats. She also loved cats and dogs. Other than when she was with her son Kareef, her happiest moments were when she went to visit her father’s side of the family in Chihuahua, Mexico. She was able to visit her father’s grave and to meet all of her family. She leaves behind her beloved son, Kareef. Her Mother, Denice Ney-Lugo, Stepfather, Arturo Lugo, Brothers, Job (Brooke)Soto, Juan (Tania)Montaño, and Anthony Lugo. Sister, Mylenna Lugo and Colorado sisters, Nancy Olivas, Olivia Maldonado, Sylvia Maldonado and Blanca Maldonado. Grandfather, Dennis L. Ney. Nephews, Gavin Burr, and Domonic Soto. Niece, Talia Haven Soto. Uncle Danny (Chris) Martinez, Cousins, Desi and Rebecca Schnebly, Hugh (Juanita) Littrell, Henry Martinez, Guadalupe (Marcella)Molinar, Mark Montoya, Merlinda Molinar and many more uncles, aunts and cousins. Those who preceded her in death were her brothers Jamin Soto and Jordan Soto. Father, Job Soto Gonzales, Grandparents, Juan Jose Soto and Maria Gonzales, Grandmother, Gloria Ann Ney, Great Grandparents, Henry (Emma) Martinez, and Dennis E. (Leola Draper) Ney. A memorial service will be held in her honor on December 14, 2019 at 12 Noon at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home. The address is 85 East 300 South Provo UT 84606.
