Marva Lea Sharon was born on December 4, 1937, to Marvin and Hazelmae Reynolds Hays, in Iowa City, Iowa.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 4, 2019, at the age of 82 in Guthrie Center, Iowa. She was named after her dad Marvin and granddad, Lee Hays. When she was an infant, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona.  In May of 1944, her dad died and she came back to Iowa to make her home with her paternal grandparents Lee and Nellie Hays of rural Hamlin, Iowa. Marva attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated high school in Audubon, Iowa with the class of 1956.  On June 17, 1956, she married Estel LeRoy Sharon of Guthrie Center at the home of her grandparents in rural Hamlin, Iowa. Estel and Marva Lea made their home on a farm in Guthrie Center.  Marva helped Estel on the farm with livestock chores, crops, and providing wonderful home cooked farm meals. Through the years she worked at the United Grocery Store, Wheelers, Rubbermaid Party Plan, Corder’s Plaster Craft, and Wal-Mart. Marva Lea also decorated cakes for a number of years creating many beautiful wedding, birthday and graduation cakes.  An absolute joy for Marva Lea was raising her two daughters and then watching her two grandchildren Wendy Beeler and Chad Myers grow up through the years and have families of their own.   She especially enjoyed doing crafts of all kinds, Quilting and genealogy.  She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Marva Lea and Estel enjoyed wintering in Yuma, AZ where she was able to enjoy the warm winter months and visits with her brothers.  She was an active member of the “Marvelous Marva Club” which celebrated people all over the county with the unique name of Marva.  Most recently she enjoyed riding with Estel to get ice cream and going to Mc Donald’s for lunch. Marva Lea is survived by her husband of almost 64yrs Estel Sharon, daughters Leila Christensen of Guthrie Center and Marie Sharon (Deb) of Guthrie Center, brothers Larry (Lynette) of Mesa, Arizona, and Jerry (Sharon) of Santee, California, Sister-in-law Joan (Tom) Martin of Little Sioux, IA.  Also surviving Marva are 4 grandchildren; Wendy (Ron) Beeler of Redfield, Chad (Jenny)Myers of Guthrie Center, Jenny (Terry) Johnson of Gretna NE, and Kim Kobler-Betts of Omaha NE, 12 great-grandchildren,  5 great-great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
