Charles William Pownell

Fort Ashby, WV- Charles William Pownell, 91, of Fort Ashby, died Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born January 17, 1928 in Headsville, he was the son of the late James F. Pownell and Ethel G. (Wagoner) Pownell. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Levauda F. Pownell; great-great-granddaughter, Allie Lynn Olinger; and siblings, Herbert D. Pownell, Donald Pownell, Edith F. Cox, and Bertha Pownell. Mr. Pownell was retired from Moreland’s Construction Corporation. He was a member of the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren. Charles enjoyed spending time outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his daughters, L. Faye Olinger and husband Danny, Ridgeley, and Linda L. Lindner, Cumberland; grandchildren, Troy W. Olinger, Brad Dyson, and Nancy L. Dyson; great-grandson, Troy W. Olinger, Jr; and great-great grandchildren, Ameerah Nicole Olinger, Aryah Faye Olinger, and Nevaeh Neat. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., 10182 Frankfort Highway, Fort Ashby, on Saturday from 11 AM-Noon. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home at noon, with Pastor Dave Sutton, officiating. Interment will be in Abe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
