Patrick B. McDonell Born December 10, 1949 in Patterson, CA - passed away November 18, 2019 at the age of 69 at his home in Ashland, NE November 18, 2019 Preceded in death by his Spouse Janet E McDonell, Parents Kenneth L & Barbara E. McDonell, brother Kenneth L. McDonell Jr. Married Janet E. Harris on June 20th, 1991 Survived by daughter Shelley Pfeiffer (Steve) of Ashland, NE, Son James McDonell (Tasha) of Lincoln, Ne, Daughter Kimberly Cohn (Joseph) of Ashland, NE, Sisters Pamela Spech (Jerry) of Ceresco, NE and Nancy White of Lincoln, Ne. Grandchildren Cassie Gomez, Zachary Bales, Jacob Petersen, Chyann Pfeiffer, Alexa Bailey, Kameron Bailey, Landon McDonell and Eason McDonell. Great Grandchildren Cody, Carly and Hailey, several Nieces and Nephews. And lifelong fishing/hunting partner Steve McClatchey. Patrick was one of four children, born December 10th, 1949 exactly one year after his oldest sister Pamela, in Patterson, CA.. His family later moved to Colorado and then to Nebraska. Patrick graduated from Ashland/Greenwood Highschool in 1969. In his younger years he enjoyed racing his 69 Chevy Nova SS, hunting and fishing. Patrick worked construction most of his life as a cement finisher and then a heavy machine operator. He helped build several highways and interstates as well as the monkey cages at the Henry Doorly Zoo. After he retired from construction he trained and raced horses for several years in Nebraska, Illinios and Missouri. He later worked as road maintenance for the Green township. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and his hummingbird garden. He was fortunate to be able to travel last year and visit the Grand Canyon on its 100th birthday Celebration of life will be held at his home 712 County Road 4, Ashland, NE on December 7th, 2019 from 2-4pm Donations to the family to be given to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
