Dietmar Karl Kanzler of Somerset, NJ formerly of Berkeley Heights, NJ passed away at Robert Wood Johnson UniversityHospital on December 2, 2019 at the age of 78. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 2 to 6 pm in the Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial 646 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ. The funeral will take place on Monday, December 9, 2019 beginning in the funeral home at 8:30 am followed by the Funeral Mass celebration at 9:30am in St. Teresa of Avila 306 Morris Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901.Burial in St. Teresa Cemetery, Summit, NJ. He came to the US at the age of 19, and at 26 years old moved to Summit, NJ. In 1975 he moved to Berkeley Heights, where he settled and raised his family.  Dietmar was trained and worked as a draftsman before starting his own painting company. He owned and operated KanzlerPainting for more than 30 years. He was a Giants fan, a past member of the Farcher’s Grove German Club in Union, he enjoyed playing and watching soccer, and loved animals and western movies. His greatest love of all was his family.  Dietmar is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Bencivenga), his loving children, daughter Christine and her husband Anthony Triolo, daughter Erica and her husband Eric Dunn, and son Mark Kanzler.  He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Jake, Hailey, Anthony and Samantha, his dear brother Gerd and his wife Giesela Kanzler, and his beloved sister Anna Rosa and her husband Helmut Barth, and his dear cat, Lucy. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the American Stroke Association or St. Huberts Animal Welfare Shelter through In Memory Of at https://inmemof.org/dietmar-karl-kanzler
