Norma Hillius, 87, Elgin, ND passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 10:30 AM, MT at St. John's Lutheran Church in Carson, ND with Pastor Bethany Haberstroh officiating. Burial will be in the Leith Cemetary at Leith, ND. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Norma Kramer was born August 22, 1932 at Elgin to August and M. Helen (Faut) Kramer. She was raised and educated in the Heil area and graduated from Elgin High School in 1950. She attended Dickinson State Teachers College and taught school at Heil and Cowan School in Fischer Township. While teaching at Heil she met her future husband, David Hillius. They were married June 2, 1952 at Heil. They lived and farmed at the Hillius home-place until 1963 when they moved and built their own farmstead nearby. Together they raised three children: Barry, Jacquelyn and Timothy. After retiring they continued to live on their farm. Their next venture was buying and selling antiques at flea markets. In the fall of 2011 they moved into an apartment at Elgin. Norma loved being a hostess and often entertained family and friends with home cooked menus. She was a talented decorator and crafted many of her own displays. She is survived by her husband, David; son, Barry (Sheila) Hillius; daughter, Jacquelyn (Ron) Fischer; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hillius; granddaughters, Rachel (Tyler) Burns; Amber (Brian) Schatz; Danielle (Kip) Hauck; Nicole (Wyatt) Mollman; grandsons, Dana Hillius; Ben (Krystle) Hillius; Beau Hillius; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rosella (Fred) Neher, Peggy (Donald) Arndt, Judy Roth, Charlotte Hillius, Carol Kramer; step-sister, Marlene Ensminger; cousins, nieces, and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her father, August Kramer; mother, Helen Kuch; brother, Kenneth Kramer; son, Timothy Hillius; great-granddaughter, Gretchen Hauck; parents-in-law, Otto and Eva Hillius; brothers-in-law, James Hillius, William Fuchs and Ray Roth; sisters-in-law, Violet Fuchs and Arlene Borchert.
